About Me

Have you ever seen a black and white kitty sit patiently as a hummingbird buzzes by, curiously inspecting her furry ear?  Do cardinals ever ponder the finer points of a beer flight?  Are Carolina Wrens interested in the third-wave coffee movement?  Can a Rose-breasted Grosbeak soar though the air carrying a Chemex coffeemaker filled with coffee?

Hi, I’m Dave, and I enjoy sketching and drawing different birds, placing them into unique, peculiar, and occasionally bizarre situations and settings.  Ever since my parents set up a hanging seed feeder outside our kitchen window when I was a young boy, I’ve enjoyed observing birds, listening to their beautiful, unique songs, and learning about their different characteristics.  Whenever I’m out and about on a neighborhood stroll, or a hike through the woods, or just sipping coffee on the back deck, I’m constantly watching and listening for our feathered friends, always appreciative of the beauty and wonder they bring to our surroundings.

I started this blog a few years ago as a vehicle for my written work.  However, I discovered a knack for drawing birds shortly thereafter and have shifted my focus primarily to drawing and sketching.  I’ve decided to leave my written works on the blog, but I’ll place my artwork front and center from here on out.  I hope you enjoy my creations. While I don’t have a formal online store at the moment, I do have prints available for sale from time-to-time. If you’re in the Rochester area and are interested in one of my works, send me an email, and we’ll work something out.
